TGC Foundation
About us
TGC Foundation was established under the premise and promise to “Be disciples to make disciples.” Matthew 28:19-20 says to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Jesus, our Lord and Savior, is largely unknown by 59% of the world today, that equates to 4.6 billion people. The task and need are great for the Good News of our Savior to be revealed to the unreached.
The Great Commission
The Great Commission [TGC] Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit faith-based organization seeking to provide children’s Christian literature, learning materials and workbooks about the Word of God and the life of our Lord Jesus Christ in Southeast Asia (SEA).
In partnership with churches, organizations, authors, illustrators and generous donors we are dedicated to the cause of expanding the quality and quantity of children’s printed works about the Good News of Christ. In every country throughout SEA, it is ultra rare to encounter any printed works for children and students to read and learn about Christianity.
TGC Foundation was established in California, USA and our overseas operations are based in Bangkok, Thailand because it is the geo-political and economic center of SEA, the religious freedoms afforded allows efficient to effective production of Christian literature. In partnership with the Thailand Bible Society (TBS), Church Education and Development (CED), Joyflow Creative and other partners we seek to expand the availability of children’s Christian works across SEA.
In partnership with charitable organizations, we visit and help fund the purchase of essential staples for families in desperate need of food and compassion, organize visits to an immigration detention center for asylum applicants who are essentially “trapped” in Bangkok and make available an opportunity to meet and share Christ with the incarcerated.
We work with businesses and partner organizations to help open doors of employment to those considered unemployable, actively support an orphanage for children born in prisons who were either abandoned or unwelcome by family.
To create a safe and comfortable environment for language learning and cultural exchange, or have a dialog on the teachings of Jesus, our team is made freely available for daily and weekly gatherings for groups and individuals in the Greater Bangkok area.
We are called to serve the needy, helping to carry their burdens and aid them in developing their potential, help us help them.
The Good Community
Glimmer of Hope – the “trapped”:
Refugees all over Southeast Asia (SEA) come to Thailand, especially the city of Bangkok, for the hope of a better life, hope for religious freedoms, hope for a future for their children and families, hope to resettle in North America or Europe and hope to escape the violence and persecution in their country of origin. Often, those hopes are dashed by the reality of the regulations stacked against them.
Refugees arrive seeking asylum from the large United Nations (UN) presence in Bangkok and relaxed tourist visa entry into Thailand. To receive refugee status from the UN it takes months to years to process the large volume of paperwork needed, and they overstay their short tourist visas. If caught by authorities and sent to an immigration detention center, the refugees have a choice of being deported to their country of origin or be incarcerated in an overcrowded holding cell until a significant bail can be posted on their behalf and pay the fines for overstaying their visas. Many choose the latter for fear of reprisals in their home country and are “trapped” for the lack of funds to post bail by family members because it is forbidden to have any employment as refugees.
Without a valid passport, current visa and detailed paperwork you may not visit a detainee, greatly discouraging family members and friends from visiting detainees or communicating with them for fear of getting “trapped” also. Sadly, we are maybe the only people to see them at the center for the duration of their incarceration. Every Thursday, when permitted, a list of detainees can be submitted for us to visit. Regulations state that only one visitor can see a detainee for about thirty to forty-five minutes.
Please join us for the Thursday morning visits if you are planning on being in Bangkok, because we are allowed to bring much-needed food, clothing and sanitary supplies to the detainee you may visit. The more people that visit, the more we can give a glimmer of hope and an ear to hear their stories and to pray for them. While some of the detainees are Christian, we visit with Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists. Your donation to TGC Foundation will be used to help the detainees cope and provide a glimmer of hope, regardless of their religious beliefs.
“I was in prison and you came to visit me … I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:36, 40
